Kyndra Haggard commented on Group 1 & 6
March Monthly Review for Group 2
Our group members are: Kyndra Haggard, Ray Harmon, Daniel
Simons, and Mariatu Swayne
Our group has been communicating through email and text. We
found out during this project we lost a group member. This did not hinder our
productivity. Everyone is very responsive and eager to do their part. Each member took responsibility for the
following: Mari and Daniel worked together on the American Association for
Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE). Mari did the Introduction and Main
Programs portion of the Daniel focused on the Comparison and Implications
pieces. They completed the table together. Ray and Kyndra collaborated on The
Workers' Educational Association (WEA). Kyndra compiled the Introduction
and Main Programs portion, while Ray completed the Comparison and Implications
part. Together they completed the table.
Kyndra sent out a reminder email to the group for us to
begin and Mari found a website that had many adult education groups listed. http://www.teachnology.com/teachers/adulted/pro_organizations/. We took a couple of days to research them and
then decided on the two we wanted to research more in depth. Daniel and Ray quickly responded in order to
help. We are happy with the organizations we chose and feel they are very
beneficial to adult education.
We learned more about specific educational organizations we researched and. We have also learned more about concepts of learning, the ideas and strengths behind studying abroad, and the differences between professionalism and professionalization.
Overall our group has been very strong. Our weakest piece is
our APA skills which we feel may be a class issue and not just us :). I do think we are
continuing to improve in this area. We
feel we have learned to work together and be patient with others schedules.
Doing group work is tough as we mentioned before, especially when we all work
full-time and are not able to meet face to face.
For the future, our group will begin each personally
reflecting on what we have learned over the semester. We will then start to
compile our thoughts to begin our next project which is the E-Archive portion.
This should be very interesting. Our group comes from various background and
have different thought processes and views and will be able to bring lots of
pieces together.

Happy Spring!!

My group can relate, we lost 2 group members during the course of the class, and ended up with 3 members, however, we have worked well together. We kept it moving just like your group. It helps to be organized and start early on assignments. I also struggle with APA style too, but the more you do it, the better it gets.Thank you for sharing the website with us too.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of personally reflecting on what you have learned for your E-Archive. My friend just completed her master's, she told me APA was a struggle the whole time because the rules change often and each professor had different expectations. I think it will be a learning process and we will all learn as we go. Great job on moving on and working together with one less group member.
ReplyDeleteHow cool is it that our group pickedt he same Spring photo. I think it says alot about all of us eagerly anticipating the Springtime weather.
ReplyDeleteI have heard stories from other students in the class that groups via online courses can be difficult to manage and communicate. However, I also hear stories of how many groups in our class are working well together. I am a first time online student and I am encourage when I read about the suggestions from other groups on collaborations and ideas of how to work togehter. Thanks to your group for the encouragemnet and sharing resources on working effectively as a online group.
Oh the woes of APA!!! I think we all feel that! It's good that your group worked together so well in spite of losing a team member. If you read our monthly post you will see that our group got a "divorce". It can be very difficult, as you guys stated, working around everyone's schedules and this can easily cause problems for the group. Keep up the hard work, we are almost done!

It sounds like your group works very well together! It is amazing as to how much you learn from one another within the group. I agree about the APA style. It is so frustrating, however, I think I understand the importance of it. I liked the link for reference, very resourceful! Keep up the good work!!!
